Art, stories and a picnic at Temple Newsam
08/08/24
We had a wonderful morning in the sunshine in the Walled Garden at Temple Newsam with Under the Canopy participants.
We found some perfect empty plinths to add our creations – hand made tissue flowers and collages, plus we managed a game of tiddlywinks, made the longest plant stem from recycled packaging wotsits! listened to Matthew reading from the Secret Garden and shared a picnic together.
“We had a lovely time yesterday, I did not know the wall gardens existed and I’ve been loads of times to Temple Newsam! The group is doing wonders for my unknown art skills and mental wellbeing.”
“I started the day feeling tired and stressed, I am leaving feeling refreshed, reset and ready to go again.”

At 10 O’clock I met Joy and Mudhi (taxi driver) for Skippko.
‘Avenue of Benches’ walled garden at Temple Newsam.
I love it when a plan comes together.
Mudhi and me are Leeds University alumni.
We played tiddlywinks together and brought packed lunches.
Making paper petal flowers and collaged tissue flower pictures. Listening to Crows calling and stories from the Secret Garden.
A competition of cooperation to build the tallest plant stem,
using un-cheesy Wotsits, water bonded.
At all stages there’s a Robin leading.
And some lovely photos taken by Yvonne…
