‘In the Waiting Room’ project started in February 2020, just before the pandemic hit.

During the initial sessions we looked at two large Skippko banners that were made in 1998 to celebrate 50 years of the NHS and started to gather people’s stories and feelings about the NHS…

Fast forward to summer 2021 and we are bringing people back together to reflect on our stories now – what have we learnt, how have we supported each other and what’s our relationship with the NHS now?

We will be holding sessions in our new space at Barkston House, Croydon Street, Leeds, LS11 9RT in ‘Venue 50’.  We will be working in small groups, so that we can socially distance and keep everyone safe.

There will be the opportunity for people to share their stories through visual artworks, story-telling/chatting! and writing.  Restrictions permitting we’ll be holding an exhibition and performance event at the end of the project in 2022.

The project celebrates 70 years of the NHS and 30 years of Skippko.
