A Room in Leeds’  project explored the emotions, energy and memories held within objects shared by participants.

We worked with members from OPAL (Older People’s Action in the Locality), AVSED (Supporting Aireborough Seniors), Aspire CBS (Strawberry Lane members) and a Photography group (mostly Carers).

Each group explored objects from a playful perspective – changing the scale of objects, looking at different meanings for objects and sharing object related stories.

Following creative making sessions some of the participants worked with Director Anthony Haddon to devise a performance piece ‘Abundance’, exploring clutter and de-cluttering.  We had 4 performances in July 24 at the Carriageworks Theatre in Leeds city centre.

‘Abundance’ combined exhibition and performance and a bun dance!

Here’s a flavour of the event ….

We’ll be exhibiting the artworks in our Venue 50 space at Barkston House from 9 – 12 September 24 and at Leeds City Museum from 24 Sept – 3 Nov 24. Details to follow….

And a selection of the many wonderful, individual houses reflecting people’s important objects, that were sent back to us….
