A project referencing Skippko’s collaboration with the NHS in 1998 wherein people’s attitudes towards the NHS were captured in the making of two 2m x 4m banners which still hang today in the St George’s Centre in Middleton: ‘In The Waiting Room’ continues this conversation.

Skippko artists facilitated workshops with community partners in Beeston and Middleton. The NHS banners were the inspiration to generate new conversations and creative work about people’s relationships with the NHS, particularly apt during the pandemic, when we were all essentially in our own waiting rooms.

The art work and stories unearthed were presented in an entirely new way for Skippko through a curated exhibition event space, within which is a doctors waiting room including visual artefacts, a soundscape and a short public performance event.
