People of Leeds
‘People of Leeds’ is a Leeds 400 project during 2026 celebrating the 400th anniversary of Leeds receiving its first Royal Charter from King Charles I. This historic moment marked the beginning of Leeds’ journey towards self-governance and city status.
To celebrate, Skippko Arts Team will be creating 400 miniature hand decorated people with the communities of Leeds.
Individuals and groups from across Leeds, of all ages, can get involved.
All the characters will go on display in Leeds City Museum from December 26 to April 27.
Whether it’s a self-portrait, a contemporary or historical figure, or someone of note from your local community, the only criteria is a link to Leeds.
Contact Cath Brooke cath.skippko@gmail.com / 07773140396 for more information and to register your interest as an individual or group.
The project is free to all and you will receive a pack of materials, with guidelines and dates for a zoom and in person session to get you started, if needed.
