‘Tales of HOPE’ will see Skippko artists Sally and Anne working alongside community participants from HOPE (Halton Moor and Osmondthorpe Project for Everyone).

The project started in May 2024 and will run through 2024 and 2025 and will celebrate Halton Moor and Osmondthorpe and the people who live there.

Participants will research, develop, design and make a large stained glass effect window for HOPE’s new home. The new community building will be on the site of Osmondthorpe Victorian primary school which is fondly remembered by HOPE members and due for demolition.

Year one will focus on gathering stories; developing skills and learning a variety of stained-glass effects; research into local history; visits to undertake research eg. Leeds Local and Family History Library and The Leeds Library (which houses stained glass panels that came from Osmondthorpe Hall, built early 1700’s).

Year two will focus on pulling all the stories and ideas together, finalising designs, making the stained-glass effect panels and installation.

To date we have worked with HOPE craft group, friendship group and men’s group and local children and parents.

Funded by Leeds Civic Trust through Leeds Community Foundation, the National Lottery Community Fund and HOPE Project.
