The latest from Under the Canopy
08/07/25

It’s been a mixed bag this term….
11th June was International Yarn Bombing Day, perfect timing for an Under the Canopy session!
Everyone enjoyed creating wonderfully colourful ‘gods eye’ wrapped hangings to adorn the canopy.
We enjoyed a flax seed drink, full of omega 3 and loads of beneficial goodness, if a little gloopy to drink!
Played ‘cats craddle’ and tried to solve Matthews knot tying challenge! We had a couple of yarn based stories and celebrated the strawberry full moon, by eating strawberries, of course!

Our next session involved making our own bug hotels to hang in the garden at Hollybush Conservation Centre..

followed by tasting edible insects!!! (for the non vegetarians!)..

Our latest session enabled participants to reflect on a wonderful friend and participant, Peter, who has sadly passed away. He will be much missed by us all.
Group members have made some lovely ceramic hangings to be placed in Peter’s favourite tree at Hollybush including one of Peter’s poems…
May be by Peter
A May King Dances
A Crown shines.
Flowers assembled,
An ensemble sings,
A chorus of Spring.
Here are the pieces before they’re fired….
See https://skippko.org.uk/remembering-peter/ for photos of the finished pieces.
